A 68-year-old male with a pressure ulcer caused by a new orthopaedic shoe. This shoe was pre-scribed after a trans-metatarsal amputation in October 2019. He is an insulin-dependent, type-2 diabetic with hypertension, peripheral vascular disease, long-term smoker, and had a coronary bypass. On the 9th of December 2020 he was referred to a specialised wound clinic. PLASOMA cold plasma therapy was started on the 14th of December while continuing with standard of care.
Results and frequency PLASOMA cold plasma treatment
• 8 weeks of PLASOMA cold plasma treatment, twice a week
• > 70% wound size reduction
• Decrease in exudate. Less moisture seen on dressings.
